Introducing Vintage Booth: A Film Photo Booth Rental for DC Weddings and Events

I have spent years photographing weddings across Washington, DC on film and digital, and one thing has always bugged me at receptions. The photo booth. You know the one: a tablet on a stand, a ring light, and a stack of glossy prints that look like every other event you have ever been to. Guests glance at them once and they end up in a drawer.

So I built the booth I always wished I could point my couples toward. It is called Vintage Booth, a vintage-style film photo booth rental serving Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Guests pose, we shoot, and they walk away holding a real print before the night is over.

Why a wedding photographer started a photo booth company

Everything I love about photography comes back to film. The grain, the depth, the way it handles skin and light. When I shoot a wedding on 35mm, the images feel like they belong to a moment instead of a camera roll. I wanted guests to have that same feeling in their hands, not just the couple.

A photo booth is also the one place at a reception where people actually let go. They duck behind a curtain with someone they love, they pull faces, they squeeze four friends into a frame built for two. As a documentary-style photographer, those are exactly the moments I chase all day. Vintage Booth just gives them a place to happen and a print to prove it.

Two ways to capture the night

Vintage Booth offers two vintage photo booth rental packages, each with its own look. Both include an on-site attendant, a print for every guest, and setup and teardown, so the booth is the easiest part of your planning.

The Instant Booth

The Instant Booth is open-air and full of energy. We set up a pleated backdrop and a stool in the best light in the room, guests step up and strike a pose, and a true instant film print develops in their hands within minutes. Watching a photo appear out of nothing never gets old, and it turns the booth into a gathering spot instead of a line.

It starts at $3,000 for three hours and includes a generous supply of instant film, your choice of backdrop, custom event signage, and an attendant who keeps things moving. It is ideal for cocktail hours, birthdays, brand activations, and gallery openings where you want the booth to be part of the room.

The Enclosed Booth

The Enclosed Booth is the flagship. This is the vintage photo booth you duck into with someone and pull the curtain. Inside, guests get unlimited photos all night, captured digitally and printed through a film emulation we tuned frame by frame in both color and black and white. Most people cannot tell the difference between these prints and real film, which is the whole point.

It starts at $5,000 for four hours and includes the enclosed booth, unlimited sessions, and a print for every guest. Custom signage, additional hours, and a digital post-event gallery are available as add-ons. This is the package I recommend for weddings, anniversaries, and milestone parties where you want the booth to be a centerpiece of the night.

Film or digital, real prints either way

The question I get most is whether the prints are really film. The honest answer is that you get to choose. The Instant Booth shoots true instant film, the kind that develops in front of you. The Enclosed Booth captures digitally and prints through our film emulation, built from years in the darkroom rather than a filter slapped on a phone photo.

What both packages share is the part that matters to me most:

• A physical print in every guest’s hand before they leave, not a download link they forget about.

How Vintage Booth fits into your wedding day

If I am already photographing your wedding, the booth is a natural extension of the coverage. I document the day quietly and without directing, and the booth gives your guests a place to be loud and silly on their own terms. The two approaches complement each other: candid film photography of the ceremony and dinner, and a stack of booth prints that capture the reception in a way no photographer standing in the corner ever could.

You do not need to hire me as your photographer to book the booth. Vintage Booth works alongside any photographer, planner, or venue. The Instant Booth fits comfortably in a 10 by 10 foot area, the Enclosed Booth needs roughly the same footprint plus room for the line that will form, and both run off a single standard outlet.

Booking a vintage photo booth in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia

Vintage Booth is based in Washington, DC and travels anywhere in the DMV. Venues within 25 miles of the city are included in every package, from Georgetown and Capitol Hill to Bethesda, Annapolis, Arlington, Alexandria, and out to Loudoun County wine country. Travel beyond that can be quoted on request.

Most weddings book six to twelve months out, and spring and fall dates go first. For other events, two to three months is usually safe. If your date is closer than that, reach out anyway.
