ABOUT DELANO
Hi, I’m Delano. I am a photojournalist turned candid wedding photographer, and I am so glad you found your way here. Long before I ever thought about making this a career, photography was just a hobby for me. My journey began in a high school darkroom, where I fell in love with the process of watching a story develop by dim red light. I quickly realized that I wanted to spend my life telling stories through a lens.
That passion led me to serve as an Air Force photojournalist, documenting fast paced events around the globe. To refine my eye, I spent time doing street photography in Tokyo to master the art of the unscripted moment. I also worked in portrait studios where I learned the technical side of professional lighting. Today, I combine those skills to serve as a candid wedding photographer who knows how to make honest, spontaneous moments look beautiful.
Now I live in the heart of the District with my cameras, my family, and my dog Kobe. I consider myself a bit of an old soul and a lifelong student of this craft. When I am not behind the lens, you can find me planning my next adventure. My favorite so far was a nature photography road trip that started at Zion National Park and ended in San Francisco by way of the Pacific Coast Highway. That trip solidified my love for the patience and timing required to capture the perfect frame.
Most days, I am simply smiling about the little things in life. Whether it is a perfectly timed laugh or a quiet, shared glance, I adore being a candid wedding photographer. I value the genuine connection behind the lens and look forward to preserving the real, unscripted chapters of your story.
